Little Lamb

A poem by Mediana Stan, illustrated by George Moldovan, translated by Rafael Manory

Kneeling at a cross, the holy man
Prays because he's lost a lamb.
Head bowed low, amongst the sheep
To find him he's praying deep.

Looks for it through thorns and bushes,
No rest for breath, scours and pushes.
Shrubs with his long beard, rambled,
Through the grass so tall and tangled.

It's hot, his mouth feels dry,
He keeps searching without a sigh,
For his dear curly, disappeared…
Little lamb s’eeps in his beard!
